The first half of the 4A Far West League girls’ basketball scheduled ended in a three-way tie for first place.  That development was created by Douglas’ win at home over previously unbeaten league leader Marshfield 56-51 at Winston.  North Bend joined the party with a 59-27 win over visiting Siuslaw.  The only other game had defending league champion Brookings-Harbor winning at home, 58-18 over So. Umpqua.  The second half of the season begins Friday with Brookings-Harbor (2-3, 10-8) at Marshfield (4-1, 13-6), North Bend (4-1, 12-6) at Douglas (4-1, 10-6), and Siuslaw (1-4, 6-12) at So. Umpqua (0-5, 4-15).

North Bend will enter the second half of the 4A Far West League boys’ basketball race with a two-game lead over the pack.  The Bulldogs beat Siuslaw Friday night 68-39 to finish the first-half unbeaten.  Marshfield lost at Douglas 50-37, as the Trojans forged a three-way tie for second place with the Pirates and Vikings.  Brookings-Harbor kept So. Umpqua winless with a 55-44 victory at home.  The league will take Tuesday off and return to play on Friday, Feb. 3 to start the second-half.  North Bend (5-0, 14-4) will travel to Douglas (3-2, 7-9), Brookings-Harbor (1-4, 7-11) at Marshfield (3-2, 9-10) and Siuslaw (3-2, 8-10) goes to So. Umpqua (0-5, 9-10).
