Gun Permit Applications in Coos County, June 4

News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office.  FRIDAY, JUNE 6TH, 2014!!  Due to an upgrade of computer equipment, the Coos County Information Technology Department will be taking down the existing Concealed Handgun Licensing Equipment on Friday, the 6th, 2014.  The Coos County Sheriff’s Office at the Courthouse in Coquille will be UNABLE to process any gun permit applications, whether new or renewal on that day, so please plan accordingly.  It may take only a few hours, or it may take all day to update the hardware and to get the software working in proper order, we cannot predict how long the upgrade will take.  We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.  Normal days/times for Renewal Applications are Monday through Friday, 08:30 to 4:45, excluding lunch when the office is closed between 11:30-12:30.  One piece of photo identification and the expired/expiring concealed handgun license is required along with the $50.00 renewal fee payable by cash, check or money order.  A new photo will be taken at the time that you apply for your renewal.  New applications are normally processed on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, from 12:30 to 4:45 on a walk-in, first come, first serve basis.  You must provide proof of handgun competency with a handgun safety certificate, military records that show small handgun safety training; one photo identification such as a driver’s license; and, one additional piece of identification such as a birth certificate, passport, social security card, fishing/hunting license, TWIC card, employee photo identification.  In addition, two names and addresses/phones of two character references will be required on your application.  The fee is payable by cash, check or money order in the amount of $65.00.  You will photographed and fingerprinted and after your background is successfully completed, you will receive your concealed handgun license in the mail to the mailing address listed on your application.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause, however, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 541-396-7802 or 541-396-7800
