On Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at approximately 10:10 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 358. Preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota Camry, operated by Benjamin Demaris (64) of Crescent City, was southbound when he struck a pedestrian, Michael Christian (32) of Crescent City, as he walked across the highway. Christian sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment and then to Rogue Valley Hospital. Christian was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
