Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into cause of Friday morning’s single vehicle traffic crash that resulted in the death of a 71-year old Elkton man. The victim’s name is released in this update. On June 13, 2014 at approximately 7:50 a.m. a 2001 Chevrolet four-door pickup driven by DAVID CHARLES DUVICK, age 71, from Elkton, was traveling westbound on Highway 138W near milepost 7. For an unconfirmed reason, the pickup traveled across the eastbound lane and into a ditch where it crashed at the base of a driveway. DUVICK was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was using safety restraints and the pickup’s airbags deployed. OSP, with the assistance of the Douglas County Medical Examiner, are looking into the possibility the victim suffered a medical emergency while driving that may have contributed to his death.
