On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at approximately 10:48 A.M. Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Hwy 197 near mile post 29 north of Tygh Valley, Oregon. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Barbara Hunt (51) of Dufur, Oregon, was traveling northbound when for unknown reasons the Grand Cherokee left the roadway shoulder and hit a rock wall. Hunt sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
