Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into Sunday mornings vehicle – pedestrian collision on highway 42 near milepost 60, about 3 miles west of the town of Ten mile. Preliminary investigation indicates that THOMAS J. McDERMOTT JR., 76, of Ten Mile, was on the highway shoulder for several hours prior to moving onto the eastbound travel portion of the highway and being struck and killed by a red, 1999 Ford Taurus. The operator of the Taurus, identified as KRISTA M. PADILLA, 55, of Camas Valley, was not injured and has been cooperating with investigators. Troopers believe the man suffered from a medical disorder which may have disoriented him. The crash occurred at approximately 5:25 A.M.
