Boswell from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received information about a large illegal indoor marijuana grow. Sgt. Boswell diligently worked the investigation over several weeks with Sgt. Whittenburg from the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team (S.C.I.N.T.) On February 23rd, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. S.C.I.N.T, Sgt. Boswell and the Coos County Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to an address on Catching Slough Lane, near Coos Bay to serve a search warrant with respect to the large-scale illegal marijuana grow. Officers located the following during the execution of the search warrant. 948; marijuana plants in different stages of growth; 48 pounds of marijuana in the process of drying; 18 pounds of processed marijuana; $2000.00 cash; A Glock 9mm handgun. The suspect was identified as Chris Matusz (46) years of age of Coos Bay. An investigation is on-going and when completed Mr. Matusz will be referred to the Coos County District Attorney’s Office on multiple charges.
