On Sunday, November 5, 2017, at 1:01 am, deputies were investigating a previous vehicle pursuit that had ended on Happy Valley Road, when a 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertible sped through the scene. The lights on the patrol vehicles were activated at the time the driver went through the scene. A deputy was attempting to overtake the speeding vehicle, which was traveling west bound on Happy Valley Road approximately a half mile ahead of the deputy, when the driver lost control and crashed. Deputies learned the driver of the vehicle, was 15 year-old Freedom Love Rose of Roseburg. Rose and his 17 year-old passenger were injured in the crash. Rose was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he received treatment prior to being transferred to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. Rose’s passenger was treated at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg. The crash investigation is continuing. Alcohol and marijuana appear to be contributing factors.
