Joint Emergency Response Training, Jan. 25

The Oregon National Guard’s 102nd Civil Support Team (CST) is scheduled to participate in an interagency training exercise with first responders in Coos Bay February 7-9, 2017. The City of Coos Bay would like the public to be aware of emergency response vehicles including resources from the Oregon National Guard that will be in the Coos Bay area over the three-day training period. The training exercises will take place at: • SOMAR, 40 Ross Inlet Road, and • Coos Bay Fire Station No. 3, 365 D Street, Eastside. The CST provides identification, analysis, and advisement on response measures to local incident commanders in the event of a natural or manmade hazardous incident. The CST is based in Salem, Oregon, and it is comprised of soldiers and airmen with highly-specialized training. The three-day training event will focus on the interoperability of CST, local first responders, and private facilities. The event is part of the United States Army North (USARNORTH) evaluation of the 102nd CST who will be supporting the Coos Bay Fire Department incident command.  In addition to evaluating the CST’s manning, equipment, training, and competency, the training exercise also tests first responders’ ability to react to a local emergency.  “These exercises allow all the agencies involved to understand each other’s capabilities and better protect the people of our state and nation,” said Maj. Adam Lulay, 102nd CST operations officer. If you need any additional information about this training, please contact Battalion Chief Dan Crutchfield at 541-269-1191.
