News release CCSO. On January 27, 2017 at about 12:32 P.M. Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a Menacing and Criminal Trespass in progress at 66468 Gurney Drive, near North Bend. Upon arrival Deputies began investigating the crime and learned of an ongoing property line dispute. As the first Deputy arrived on scene, he observed a man who was later identified as Steven R. O’Daniels, 38 YOA from North Bend, who walk away from the deputies’ location and into a shop style building on the property. Mr. O’Daniels wife, 39 year old Dana O’Daniels remained with the deputy to explain her side of the story. In the course of the investigation the Deputy conducted record checks of all the involved parties, including Steven O’Daniels who had walked away and entered the shop. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center advised the Deputies that Steven O’Daniels had two outstanding warrants from Clatsop County for failing to appear on Commercial Fishing Crimes. After leaning this information Deputies walked over to the shop where they verbally announced for Steven to come out of the shop and further advised him he was under arrest for the outstanding warrants. The Deputies heard banging and slamming from the back of the shop and it was believed the subject fled out the back of the shop on foot. As one of the Deputies moved to look into the shop he was blocked by Jennifer A. Skinner, 27 YOA of North Bend. Mrs. Skinner told Deputies she was the only one inside the shop and said Steven had never been inside. Mrs. Skinner would not allow access to the shop and continued to block the door. Mrs. Skinner was arrested on the charge of Hindering Prosecution for her role in attempting to conceal the wanted subject from Officers. Coos County Sheriff’s K-9 Odin and his handler, Deputy Adam Slater deployed in tracking for the wanted subject from the rear of the shop where he fled on foot. K-9 Odin tracked through the brush for approximately ½ mile where he located Albert L. Munnerlyn, 54 YOA of Coos Bay. Albert Munnerlyn was hiding and not visible in dense brush when he was located by K-9 Odin. Albert struck K-9 Odin in the side of the head and was subsequently bit and secured. Albert admitted to running out the back window of the shop with Steven O’Daniels because he thought he was wanted. Mr. Munnerlyn pointed up the hill and advised that Steven had continued in the heavy brush in that direction. Albert admitted to being on property not belonging to him and was charged with Criminal Trespass II and Interfering with a Police Animal. K-9 Odin continued to track for Steven O’Daniels and eventually located him approximately 1 and ½ miles from the location where he fled on foot. Steven was arrested on the outstanding warrants and secured by Officers near a residence on Waymire Lane. Jennifer A. Skinner was arrested on the charge of Hindering Prosecution. Albert L. Munnerlyn was arrested on the charges of Criminal Trespass II and Interfering With a Police Animal. Steven R. O’Daniels was arrested on two outstanding warrants from Clatsop County. All three were transported to the Coos County Jail. Mrs. Skinner and Mr. Munnerlyn were booked, cited and released and Mr. O’Daniels was booked and being held on $1,000,000 bail. Officers from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Coquille Tribal Police Department and the Oregon State Police assisted with perimeter during the K-9 Track. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the several citizens in the area who assisted them during this incident by staying vigilant and providing updates to officers at the scene.
