CCSO release – On 02/05/21 at about 2:39 p.m. Deputies who were patrolling the city of Lakeside were dispatched to a two vehicle traffic crash on Hwy 101 near Airport Way, just south of the city of Lakeside. Deputies arrived within minutes, rendered first aid and secured the scene. An investigation revealed a small SUV driven by 72 year old Timothy Krost of Lakeside was entering Hwy 101 from Airport Way when it was struck by a northbound pick-up towing a trailer being driven by Bryan Winchester 60 YOA of Grants Pass. Witnesses on scene confirmed the above information and further stated, “The truck had no time to react.” Mr. Krost was transported to Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport with unknown injuries. Mr. Winchester was evaluated and released at the scene.  The crash is being investigated further by the Oregon State Police. Lakeside Fire members assisted on scene. The Highway was partially shut down to one lane of travel for over an hour until the vehicles were removed from the location by Mast Brothers Towing.
