The Liberty Theatre receives grant from the Collins Foundation to help finance the construction of ADA bathrooms. The Liberty Theatre, home of Little Theatre on the Bay, is pleased to announce it has received a $45,000 grant from the Collins Foundation. These funds will support Phase II of restoration, including construction of the 1364‐square foot south end of the first floor expansion, which includes ADA restrooms, a family room with baby nursing area. This project also addresses the purchase and installation of new seats, including ADA supportive seating in the auditorium. “Coos County residents are so appreciative of the arts in their community, and this grant will help renovate a cornerstone of downtown North Bend, making it accessible and comfortable to all our current patrons and more welcoming to new friends that come to Little Theatre on the Bay,” says Jeanne Woods, Restoration Chairperson. The Collins Foundation is an independent, private foundation that was created in 1947 by Truman W. Collins Sr. and other members of the family of E.S. Collins. The Foundation exists to improve, enrich, and give greater expression to humanitarian endeavors in the state of Oregon and to assist in improving the quality of life in the state. As a general-purpose, responsive grant maker, the Foundation serves people in urban and rural communities across Oregon through its grants to nonprofit organizations working for the common good. The Foundation’s broad areas of interest include arts & humanities, children & youth, community welfare, education, environment, health & science, and religion. Award winners were: Since 1959, the LTOB has operated and managed North Bend’s historic Liberty Theatre as a performing arts venue serving residents and visitors to Coos County. The restoration project is designed to ensure North Bend’s 92 year-old Liberty Theatre’s role as the architectural and cultural hub of the community is preserved and protected in time for the centennial celebration of the building’s opening scheduled for spring 2024.
