Quakes
A couple of earthquakes shook the Cape Mendocino area of Northern California Saturday, March 8, where two fault lines begin in the Pacific Ocean and then run parallel with the Oregon Coast. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.6-magnitude quake was recorded at 12:51 a.m., 34-miles southwest of Eureka, CA. And, a 3.0-magnitude quake occurred at 12:07 a.m., 37-miles south to southwest of the Humboldt Co. Seat.
Cape Mendocino Quakes
The Pacific Ocean seafloor erupted with a series of earthquakes at or near Cape Mendocino in Northern California Sunday, March 9. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the largest was a 6.9-magnitude that occurred at 10:18 p.m., 50-miles west of Eureka, CA where two fault lines begin and eventually turn north to run parallel with the Oregon Coast. A 4.4-magnitude quake was recorded at 10:36 p.m., 94-miles west to southwest of Eureka. A 4.5-magnitude at 3:28 a.m., Monday, March 10, 57-miles west of Eureka. A 3.7-magnitude at 3:46 a.m., 62-miles west of Eureka. There were three other quakes in the 2.0-magnitude range.
