Marshfield & North Bend Sports, April 23

Booster Clubs
The Marshfield and North Bend booster clubs meet today at noon.  The North Bend backers will gather at the high school’s Hall of Champions where the cost of lunch is $7.  The Marshfield supporters will meet at Abby’s Pizza in downtown Coos Bay.  Both meetings are open to all interested in support athletics at the two Bay Area high schools.

Visiting Coquille split a non-league softball doubleheader with Marshfield Tuesday at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay.  The host Lady Pirates won the opener 13-3 in five innings, but the Red Devils jumped on Marshfield in the first inning of the second game en route to an 11-6 win.  The Lady Pirates are now 8-8 on the season (5-4 in FWL).

South Umpqua (9-0, 11-3) remains unbeaten the 4A Far West League softball race with a 2-1 win at second place Brookings-Harbor (6-2, 12-3) Tuesday.  Douglas (6-2, 9-3) moves into a share of second place with the Bruins following a 23-3 win at home over visiting Sutherlin (0-9, 0-16).  No score on the Siuslaw (2-5, 2-7) at North Bend (1-7, 2-10) game.

Due to wet weather Tuesday, North Bend postponed its varsity and JV baseball games with Siuslaw.

While North Bend (8-0, 8-7) postponed its 4A Far West League baseball at Siuslaw (5-2, 7-4) in Florence Tuesday, the rest of the league was in action.  South Umpqua (4-5, 7-8) beat visiting Brookings-Harbor (5-3, 9-5) 9-5 in Tri City, while Douglas (4-4, 5-9) won 6-3 at Sutherlin (1-8, 1-14).  Marshfield (2-7, 3-12) had a bye.
