Missing Hunter in Coos County, Nov. 20

On November 18, 2013 at about 6:20 pm the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing hunter in the Lost Creek drainage of eastern Coos County. The hunter, 33 year old Lloyd Sinclair of Gold Hill was reported to have been with his hunting partner, looking for elk reported in the area by another hunter at about 10:30 am. Mr. Sinclair, it is reported, went into the brush in search of the elk after having seen fresh sign and has not been seen since. At about 8:30 pm Coos County Sheriff’s deputies arrived in the remote location. With the assistance of one of the missing hunter’s party, deputies conducted foot and vehicle hasty searches to but did not locate the missing man. The weather was rainy, foggy and temperatures in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s during the night. The terrain is extremely rugged. There are deep drainages, bluffs, tall and reprod timber. Mr. Sinclair was not prepared to spend the night in the woods being lightly dressed and with no survival supplies. The land belongs to the Bureau of Land Management, Coos Bay District and is surrounded by timberlands of the Plum Creek Timber company.
