North Bend and Siuslaw moved into first place in the 4A Far West League volleyball race with wins Thursday night. Siuslaw did it on the road with a come-from-behind win over defending league champion Marshfield 3-2 (17-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-5), while North Bend won at home over visiting South Umpqua 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23). Douglas beat visiting Brookings-Harbor 3-1 (25-19, 25-9, 28-30, 25-21). Next Tuesday, North Bend (2-0) visits Marshfield (1-1), while Douglas (1-1) is at So. Umpqua (0-2), and Brookings-Harbor (0-2) travels to Florence to play Siuslaw (2-0).

North Bend downed visiting Douglas 6-0 in 4A Far West League soccer action Thursday night at Vic Adams Field. Marshfield fell 7-1 at Brookings-Harbor and Coquille beat So. Umpqua 4-1. In girl’s soccer, North Bend beat visiting Douglas 8-0, Brookings-Harbor bettered Marshfield 8-0, and Coquille downed visiting So. Umpqua 3-2.
