New CB Council Member, Aug. 23

Excerpt from Coos Bay Mayor Joe Benetti’s weekly newsletter regarding the appointment of a new City Council member to replace Phil Marler who recently resigned from the Council. “Prior to the Council meeting, we interviewed four citizens, Jim Kingsley, Richard Baxter, Wim De Vriend and Sara Stephens, all of whom had submitted letters of interest in serving on the Council. During the Council meeting Sara Stephens was appointed to fill Councilor Marler’s vacant seat. Sara is the Executive Director of the South Coast Regional Early Learning Hub. In addition to her day job, Sara has served on the Coos Bay Budget Committee, is the Board Chair for United Way of Southwestern Oregon and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Coos History Museum. Sara is scheduled to take her oath of office and assume the duties as a City Councilor on September 7. Welcome aboard Sara!”
