Colette S. Peters, director of the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC), recently announced the appointment of Kimberly Hendricks as the new superintendent of Shutter Creek Correctional Institution (SCCI) in North Bend, effective Sept. 1, 2014. Hendricks has been the hearings administrator at DOC headquarters in Salem since 2009. She has spent the past 13 years with the department, starting as safety manager at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in 2001. Hendricks holds a Certificate in Public Management (CPM) from Willamette University. SCCI is a minimum-security prison located on the Oregon Coast at North Bend. Originally an Air National Guard radar station, the facility was converted into a prison in 1990. SCCI houses approximately 300 men in custody who are within four years of release. It provides education, transitional services, and work opportunities, including outside fire crews.
