According to the latest South Coast Labor Trend newsletter from the Oregon Employment Dept. for August 2014, seasonal hiring in leisure and hospitality boosts June Job Count. “Coos County total payroll employment rose by 190 jobs in June. Seasonal hiring in leisure and hospitality totaling 90 jobs accounted for the largest share of the monthly increase.” Over the year, payroll employment in Coos County has fallen by 160 jobs as compared to last year. Curry Co. employment rose by 240 jobs in June. “Leisure and hospitality comprised the largest share of the month‘s gain, up by 90.” Over the past year, total payroll employment payroll has decreased by 30. Curry County is tied with Harney County for the highest unemployment rate among all Oregon counties.
