National Letter of Intent
Wednesday, April 16th, 2014, North Bend High School athlete Cherise Kirkpatrick will be signing a National Letter of Intent.  Information on her college choice will be available at the signing.  Cherise, her parents and Coach Jake Smith will be available for questions and comments.  Refreshments will be served.  Please join us at 3:30pm in the NBHS Hall of Champions.

Booster Clubs
The Marshfield and North Bend booster clubs meet today at noon.  The Marshfield supporters will gather at Abby’s Pizza in Coos Bay, while the North Bend backers meet at the high school’s Hall of Champions where cost of lunch is $7.  Both meetings are open to all who support Marshfield and North Bend sports.

Sparked by triples from Andrew Sharp and Drew James, the Marshfield Pirates won their first 4A Far West League baseball game Tuesday in Coos Bay with a 5-3 decision over visiting South Umpqua (2-4, 5-7).  Senior Alex Millican got the win on the mound for Marshfield (1-6, 2-9).  In other FWL games, North Bend (6-0, 6-7) maintains first place with a 12-0 win at Douglas (2-3, 3-8).  Brookings-Harbor (5-0, 9-2) is a half a game back in second place following a 3-2 win at Siuslaw (5-2, 7-4).  Sutherlin (0-6, 0-12) had a bye.

Marshfield (3-4, 5-7) lost to 4A Far West League leader South Umpqua (6-0, 8-3) 11-0 in a prep softball game Tuesday in Tri City.  In other FWL games, second place Douglas (5-0, 8-1) won at North Bend (1-5, 2-8), 19-0, while Brookings-Harbor (4-1, 10-2) maintains third place with a 2-1 win at home over visiting Siuslaw (2-5, 2-7).  Sutherlin (0-6, 0-13 had a bye.

North Bend swept a 4A Far West League track meet on Frank Shriver Track Tuesday.  The Bulldogs boys won with 173-points.  Marshfield was second with 128.5, followed by Brookings-Harbor 122, Siuslaw 59, Suthlerlin 19 and Douglas with 16.5-points.  In the girl’s race, North Bend scored 149-points, Sutherlin was second with 100, followed by Marshfield with 98, Siuslaw 79, Brookings-Harbor 64 and Douglas with 32.  North Bend boy winners:  100 – Matt Woods 11.20; 3000 – Michael Brown 10:03.64; 4X400 Relay (Matt Woods, Cameron Lucero, Wyatt Cunningham, Drew Matthews) 3:39.09; Shot Put – Josh Kimble 44-10.5; Discus – Josh Kimble 127-03; High Jump – Wyatt Cunningham 6-06; Long Jump – Drew Matthews 19-08.  Marshfield boy winners:  800 – Colby Gillett 2:07.08; Javelin – Hunter Drops 146-04;  Pole Vault – Hunter Drops 14-00; Triple Jump – Hunter Drops 39-05.75.  North Bend girl winners:  200 – McKenzie Edwards 27.66; 3000 – Gabby Hobson 11:15.66; 300H – McKenzie Edwards 52.76; High Jump – Cherise Kirkpatrick 4-10; Pole Vault – McKenzie Gauntz 10-04.  Marshfield girl winners:  4X100 Relay (Isabel Groth, Adryana Chavez, Hailee Woolsey, Brittany Cook) 51.14; 4X400 Relay (Isabel Groth, Hailee Woosey, Adryana Chavez, Brittany Cook) 4:21.54; Javelin – Karissa Irvin 114-08.
