Marshfield’s boys fell 61-45 at North Valley near Grants Pass Friday night in a non-league basketball game. The Pirates next play at Tillamook Monday, 4:15 p.m. On Thursday, Marshfield (1-3) opens the Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament against Junction City, about 8:45 p.m. Marshfield’s girls handed visiting North Valley a 49-16 loss at the Harding Gym in Coos Bay. The Lady Pirates (4-1) play at Tillamook Monday afternoon, and then North Salem in their opener at the Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament Thursday night, 7 p.m.

North Bend’s boys downed visiting Coquille 52-42 in a non-league basketball game Friday night. Coquille’s girls beat North Bend 53-25. On Saturday, North Bend’s boys lost at North Valley, 71-56. The Bulldogs (3-2) will next play Lebanon at the Les Schwab Tires South Coast Holiday Basketball Tournament Thursday, Dec. 26, noon. North Bend’s girls also lost Saturday, but at home to North Valley, 41-3. The Lady Bulldogs (1-4) next play Jan. 2, against Burns at the Salem Academy Tournament.

Marshfield’s girls downed visiting Cottage Grove 127-43 in a prep swim meet at the Mingus Park Pool in Coos Bay Friday; however, the Pirate boys lost to the Lions 118-50. The Lady Pirates won all of the events contested.
