North Bend’s boys beat Brookings-Harbor 3-0 Thursday at Port Orford High School to nail down the No. 1 seed from the 4A Far West League for the upcoming playoffs. The two teams tied for the FWL crown this year . The Bruins are the No. 2 team and Marshfield the No. 3 team.

It was standing room only at Vic Adams Field Friday night in North Bend as the Bulldogs and Marshfield tangled for the 4A Far West League crown. The two Bay Area Rivals went into the game unbeaten in the FWL. Marshfield, hampered by turnovers, fell 10-7, as senior soccer player Ian Bream was the difference on the scoreboard with a 22-yard field goal in the second (4:46) that was the difference in first half as North Bend led 3-0 at the break. A two-yard run by Trey Woods in the third (4:29) put the Bulldogs up 10-0. The Pirates got on the scoreboard in the fourth (9:15) on a 30-yard pass from DJ Herrington to Vincent Tine. Marshfield was marching for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth, but ran out of downs in the Bulldogs “Red Zone.” North Bend took over and ran out the clock. The Bulldogs (5-0, 6-2) will now have a week off, while Marshfield (4-1, 6-2) will host a “Play-In” game Friday night at Pete Susick Stadium. Siuslaw (3-2, 6-2) finished third following a 21-20 win at Brookings-Harbor (1-4, 2-6), and South Umpqua (2-3, 3-5) is fourth. The Lancers won at Douglas (0-5, 1-6) 47-4. The OSAA Power Rankings froze Friday night at 10 p.m. Marshfield is ranked 8th and North Bend 11th.

Pirates get Huskies
Sweet Home will play at Marshfield in the 4A football “Play-In” round. The game would most likely be played Friday night, 7 p.m., at Pete Susick Stadium in Coos Bay. The Huskies (4-4) finished as the fourth place team in the Sky-Em Conference. Other FWL teams in the “Play-In” round include South Umpqua (3-5) at Astoria (5-3) and Siuslaw (6-2) at Junction City (4-4).
