The North Bend Public Library has decided to close temporarily, from Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Governor Kate Brown announced widespread restrictions this week on public gatherings and a two-week school closure. The measures are intended to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The President has declared a national emergency. North Bend Public Library has an average attendance of 400 people a day, making it difficult to implement the recommended public health guidance regarding social distancing and other safety recommendations. Out of an abundance of caution for the public and staff, the North Bend Public Library will temporarily close. In addition, there will be no programming or use of meeting rooms during this time. The library will continue to offer digital services such as Library2Go and reference databases. These services offer e-books, audio books, and more. Physical materials will still be available during the closure. The library is implementing a curbside pickup program. Call 541-756-0400 Monday through Friday from 10 am – 6 pm for more information and to reserve items for pickup. Items will be available for curbside pickup beginning Monday, March 16 at 2 pm. The library is extending loan periods and no fines will be levied during the closure period. The library’s Union Street book drop will be open. However, it is not necessary to return items that you have checked out until the library reopens. Updated information will be provided through the library’s Facebook page, webpage, https://www.northbendoregon.us/library, and by phone Monday – Friday from 10 am – 6 pm. You can call 541-756-0400 or email nbservices@coastlinelibrarynetwork.org for further assistance.
