Oil Spill Southern Oregon, April 14

DEQ release – MEDFORD (April 13, 2022) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, and NEXGEN Logistics LLC have established a Unified Command to coordinate the response to public health and environmental impacts of the fire and oil spill at Pacific Pride Commercial Fuel Station on South Central Avenue in Medford. Absorbent boom has been placed at the facility and in Bear Creek to reduce the amount of petroleum product released to the stream. Oiled birds have been observed. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are managing the response to oiled waterfowl and any other impacts to fish or wildlife. EPA is setting up community air monitors. The scene remains dangerous and is off-limits to the public.
