Oregon coach Dana Altman said there probably isn’t a team in the country satisfied with how it’s playing right now and his is no different. The 12th-ranked Ducks just look better doing it than most. Joseph Young scored 24 points and Oregon continued its best start in eight seasons with a 97-76 victory over Morgan State on Sunday. Richard Amardi had a season-high 16 points in his first start of the season, and Damyean Dotson scored 15 points for the Ducks (12-0), who are off to their best start since going 13-0 in 2006-07. Oregon opens Pac-12 Conference play on Thursday at Utah and Altman said there are many areas the Ducks need to improve.

Angus Brandt scored a game-high 21 points and Roberto Nelson added 19 to the scoring column as Oregon State took down Quinnipiac, 76-68 on Sunday night at Gill Coliseum. Brandt came to play after missing the last two games with a hyper-extended knee. The Australian senior powered the Beavers offensively, finding the net on 8-of-11 shots and grabbing five rebounds to go along with it. Nelson played well down the stretch for Oregon State (8-4), adding five rebounds and six assists. He also cashed in on 7-of-8 from the line, helping the Beavers shoot 81.8 percent from the stripe. Up next, the Beavers tip off the New Year on the road, facing Colorado on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT (8 p.m. MT) in their first Pac-12 Conference matchup of the season. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

Sophomore center Ruth Hamblin tied a school record with nine blocks and the Oregon State women’s basketball team put together its most complete performance of the season, leading No. 2 Notre Dame for large portions of the game before the Irish were able to take the lead in the second half and escape with a 70-58 win in front of a crowd of 4,032 in Gill Coliseum on Sunday afternoon. It doesn’t get any easier for the Beavers, who open conference play Friday at No. 23 Cal before visiting No. 4 Stanford on Sunday. Both games will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
