Junior quarterback Marcus Mariota was named Pac-12 offensive player of the week Monday, after leading the fifth-ranked Ducks to a 45-16 win over Stanford on Saturday. Mariota accounted for 343 yards of total offense and four touchdowns, and set the Oregon career record for completions, which now stands at 644. The all-America candidate from Honolulu completed 19 of 30 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 85 rushing yards on nine carries with a pair of scores. Through nine games, Mariota has accounted for an FBS-best 34 touchdowns. He is the national leader in both passing efficiency (187.20 rating) and points responsible for (204), while ranking second in yards per play (9.3) and yards per pass attempt (10.2). The Pac-12 weekly honor was his second straight and third of the season, following his Week 2 selection after UO’s win vs. Michigan State and the Ducks’ Week 9 victory over Cal.

Edward Cheserek joined Steve Prefontaine and Jim Hill to become only the third Oregon runner to win back-to-back Pac-12 cross country titles last Friday at the Metropolitan Links Golf Course in Oakland, Calif. For his efforts, the St. Benedicts Prep product was awarded the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Athlete of the Week on Monday.
