Senior tailback Terron Ward rushed for 102 yards and scored twice to spark a potent ground attack that powered Oregon State to a 36-31 win over Colorado at Folsom Field in Boulder, CO on Saturday. Ward scored OSU’s opening touchdown on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and then added the clinching score on a 10-yard run with 5:09 remaining. After a Colorado score and an OSU punt, the Beavers stiffened defensively and stopped Colorado’s final drive at the OSU 40-yard line with 1:48 remaining and then ran out the clock. The victory ended a six-game Pacific-12 Conference losing streak over the past two seasons and improved the Beavers to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Pac-12. The Buffaloes dropped to 2-4 overall, 0-3 in the Pac-12.

No. 11 Oregon volleyball was dealt its first loss of the season, Friday, falling to No. 1 Stanford, at Stanford, CA, in four sets, 25-23, 25-16, 17-25, 25-17. The Ducks rebounded; however, with a three-set sweep of California, Sunday, winning 25-19, 25-21, 25-21. Oregon (13-1, 3-1 Pac-12) will return home for matches against Washington State a 7 p.m. on Friday and an 11 a.m. match against Washington on Sunday. The Oregon State volleyball team swept the California Golden Bears at Haas Pavilion Friday night 25-23, 25-23, 25-18. The Beavers (12-3, 2-2 Pac-12) then battled the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal (14-0, 4-0 Pac-12) Saturday evening. The Beavers remained close with the top team in the nation throughout the night, but were felled 25-22, 25-19, 29-27. OSU hosts UW Friday, and WSU Saturday in Corvallis.

Oregon Senior Lindsay Crevoiserat’s fourth-place led six Duck runners in the top 15 as the Women of Oregon clipped No. 4 Stanford to win the Washington Invitational 48-55 Saturday at Jefferson Park in Seattle, WA. In Salem, Cole Watson led the third-ranked Duck men to a victory Saturday at the Charles Bowles Invitational. With most of Oregon’s top runners getting the week off after last week’s win in Boston, the Ducks got a chance to test their depth at the Willamette meet. Watson, a senior from Rogue River, Ore., finished fourth in 24:08.88, while fellow senior Tanguy Pepiot was fifth in 24:21.56. It was the first race of the season for both runners. Oregon State sophomore Holly Cavalluzzo placed second at the Portland State Viking Invitational on Saturday, leading the Beavers to third place at the 6-team meet. Cavalluzzo covered the 5,000-meter Blue Lake Park course in 16:55.14 and finished about seven seconds behind winner Sophie Curatilo of Seattle University. Freshman Sam McKinnon took fourth in 17:06.22 and was OSU’s second scorer. The Beavers compiled 61 team points and placed third behind Seattle (43) and Portland State (53). The meet was also scored as three duals; the Beavers defeated Portland 27-29, but fell 27-29 to Portland State and 26-32 to Seattle.
