Visiting Clark College stole a couple of N-WAC soccer matches from Southwestern Oregon Saturday in Coos Bay. The Laker women fell 4-3, after trailing 3-0 early. The SWOCC men dropped a 6-0 decision. Southwestern’s men (0-9-0, 3-9-0) host Puget Sound Saturday, while the women (1-7-2, 2-9-2) host Clackamas on Wednesday. Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Cross Country team ran at Willamette University in The Charles Bowels Saturday in Salem. Coach Dan Neal said the weather was extremely hot during both the men’s and women’s races. Alexis Crellin had a good run covering the 5000 meter course in 21:58 with teammate Ramey Gerke running a 23:31. Melissa Ortiz ran a 23:59 and Carleen Fall ran a 24:59. On the men’s side the team was in a healing week with 3 of their runners unable to run. Brad Larsen had the best time for the Lakers in the 8000 race with a time of 31:38 and Amani Rogers-Muller had a 39:58 in his first 5 mile race. The Lakers will run this week at Oregon City in the Mike Hodges invitational.
