OSP Impounds
Vehicle impoundments by the Oregon State Police. Feb. 23: A dark green Jeep GCH was stopped for a School Zone Speed Violation, 3:32 p.m., 16th & Broadway in North Bend. Thirty-four year old Christopher Scott Thomas, North Bend, cited for Giving False Information regarding Liability Insurance and Failure to Carry Operator’s License. The vehicle was impounded. Feb. 24: Hwy. 101 and Clark Rd., North Bend, Black Mazda RX8 towed after the driver allegedly “barked the tires” southbound in front of a state trooper clearing a prior traffic stop. Twenty-four year old Richard Irvine, Coos Bay, “admitted that the vehicle was not registered to him and was uninsured. Subject admitted to possessing less than one ounce of marijuana and surrendered the marijuana.” He was cited for Driving Uninsured, Speed Racing and PCS Less than Oz. Marijuana. The vehicle was impounded. Feb. 27: 10:40 a.m., East Bay Rd. & Pacific Ln., silver/aluminum Dodge 4D impounded, 50-year old Nancy Rae Sanders, North Bend, “stopped for driving while suspended, found to be driving uninsured. Vehicle impounded.” 11:35 a.m., blue Toyota pickup, Virginia Ave. & Harrison St., North Bend, 33-year old Robert Clifford Field Jr., Powers, “stopped for traffic violation, found to be driving uninsured. Operator issued violation citation for Driving Uninsured and Criminal Citation for Giving False Information Regarding Liability Insurance. Vehicle impounded.” Feb. 28: a silver/aluminum Ford Mustang was impounded on Hwy. 240 (Cape Arago Hwy.), 12:38 p.m., after the driver was stopped for a speed violation. Thirty-two year old Gregorio Barrera Perez Jr., Coos Bay, found to be Driving While Suspended and Uninsured. “He was issued violation citations as well as criminal citations for Fail to Return Suspended License and Use of an Invalid License.” Hwy. 101 & East Bay Rd., North Bend, white Ford XPL stopped for excessive speed at 2:17 p.m. Eighty-three year old driver was suspended, cited for Speed, Driving While Suspended, and Fail to File an SR-22. March 1: Hwy. 240, mp 6, wb, 6:27 a.m., green Lexus “stopped for traffic violation, found to be driving while suspended and uninsured,” 47-year old Kenneth James Hunt, Coos Bay. 7:16 a.m., Hwy. 240, mp 6, eb, white Ford F-150, 44-year old Joseph William Boracci Jr., North Bend, “stopped for speed violation, found to be driving uninsured.” 7:40 a.m., Hwy. 240, mp 5, eb, white Honda PAS, 32-year old Crystal Lynn Upchurch, Coos Bay, “stopped for driving while suspended. Vehicle impounded.” 8:25 a.m., Hwy. 101, mp 229, nb, green Lexus 300 stopped for traffic violation, 27-year old Paige Nicole McRoberts, Springfield, “found to be driving while suspended. Vehicle impounded.” 9:24 a.m., Hwy. 101 and Anderson Ave., Coos Bay, black Chevrolet CAM stopped for registration violation.” The driver, 36-year old Brian Matthew Allen, Coos Bay, “found to be driving while suspended and uninsured. Vehicle impounded.” 9:52 a.m., Hwy. 101, mp 237, nb, Coos Bay, red Subaru JUS, stopped for equipment violations. Seventeen year old Coos Bay female “found to be driving uninsured. Vehicle, owned by 20-year old Myrtle Pt. male, impounded. 10:19 a.m., 1992 Geo Prizm “stopped for no front plate violation was impounded and towed,” after a record check revealed that the operator, 26-year old Michael Bruce Waters, Coos Bay, “was driving while suspended and driving uninsured.” 10:33 a.m., Chester & Newmark, North Bend, 55-year old William George Noyce, Coos Bay, found to be driving a gold Dodge Dakota uninsured. “He was issued a criminal citation for Giving False Information Regarding Liability Insurance.” 12:44 p.m., Hwy. 101, mp 235, sb, red Ford pickup truck “stopped for registration violation.” Forty-one year old Mona Suzanne Hayward, North Bend, “found to be driving without Oregon driver’s license or insurance.”
DUII
According to an OSP report, 26-year old Ryan Charles Larsen, Coos Bay, taken into custody on the 700 block of S. 5th St., Feb. 24, 2:25 a.m. “I assisted a Coos Bay Police Officer take a suspected drunk driver into custody. During the contact, the suspect failed to listen to lawful orders and actively resisted being taken into custody.”
Vehicle in Pasture
A blue Toyota PRE ended up in a pasture off of Hwy. 42-South Feb. 28, 4:23 a.m. According to an OSP report, “The single vehicle crash occurred when the operator of the eastbound vehicle reportedly fell asleep and went off the roadway on the westbound side. The vehicle struck a utility guy wire and a pasture fence before jumping a creek and coming to rest about 100 feet off the roadway.” The driver, 31-year old Dustin Tyler Anderson, Myrtle Pt., “self-extricated and called his parents for a ride home. He then reported the crash.”
Felony Warrant
A 56-year old male, the subject of a state-wide felony arrest warrant, was taken into custody March 1 in Coos County. According to an OSP report, a traffic stop for Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel resulted in the arrest of a passenger, James Robert Hughey for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The driver, 37-year old Timothy Allen Friend, Crescent City, CA, cited/warned, and Hughey was transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille.
