Dehydrating will be the topic of the next Coos County Master Food Preservers workshop set for Saturday, June 2. The class was originally scheduled for May 12th but needed to be rescheduled.  This class will cover the basics of dehydrating fruits and vegetables, as well as smoking foods for eating as well as canning and the safety diffence between the two. Jerky making and summer sausage making will be covered. Inspiring tips and tricks such as the ever-popular dinner in a jar will round out the workshop. It will also cover proper storage of dehydrated foods, and how to use them.  This workshop fills quickly, so reserve your spot now by calling 541-572-5263, ext. 25292. The class will be held at the OSU Extension Service in Myrtle Point from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $10.
