The South Oregon Coast was prepared for possible hurricane-type winds from a large Pacific Ocean storm that was forecast to roll on shore Saturday morning, Oct. 15.  However, the storm veered north and rolled onto the North Oregon Coast and the State of Washington instead.  Wind gusts in the Bay Area were reported between 30 & 60 mph, nowhere near the 80 predicted by the National Weather Service.  Rain, high tides and high winds did produce some local flooding, but again not as high, or damaging, as predicted.  What was produced were some great crashing wave action at Shore Acres and Cape Arago.  The Bay Area police logs showed lots of calls regarding “high water” on the streets in both North Bend and Coos Bay.
