Pedestrian Injured Hwy. 126E, Sept. 5

On Monday, September 3, 2018 at approximately 8:45 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a hit and run collision on Hwy 126E near milepost 47.5. Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle, described as a silver or metallic gray Chevy Astro Van or similar looking vehicle,  was traveling westbound and struck a pedestrian, John S. Houdeshell (71) from Yreka, CA, who was crossing the highway.   Houdeshell sustained critical injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at River Bend in Springfield.    Suspect vehicle fled the scene and remains unidentified. Hwy 126E was partially closed for three hours following the collision.  OSP was assisted by Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Upper McKenzie Fire Department and ODOT.
