One of the original seals at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport has passed away at the age of 34. “Pinky” came to the Central Coast tourism/educational facility in 1992 when it first opened in South Beach. She was originally found stranded as a pup in Cordova, Alaska in 1986. After spending time with a rehabilitation facility in San Diego, she was deemed “non-releasable.” Weighing in at 170 lbs., Aquarium officials said she was the dominant pinniped.
