Marshfield will play Marist Catholic for the OSAA 4A Football Championship, Saturday, Nov. 27, 7 p.m. at Cottage Grove High School. The two District 4 teams will meet for the second time this season. Marshfield won the earlier encounter in Coos Bay 48-41 to claim the league title. The two teams advance to the finals with semi-final wins Saturday. The Pirates eliminated Mazama 36-0 at Grants Pass and the Spartans ousted previously unbeaten Estacada 42-8 at McMinnville. During the 4A Showcase Championships last Spring, Marist Catholic finished second to Mazama and Marshfield took third place. Pirate quarterback Dom Montiel threw for 256 yards Saturday against the Vikings and one touchdown. The senior leads the State with 3,229 yards and 45 TDs. Coquille and Siuslaw also advanced Saturday. The Red Devils beat top-ranked Heppner 8-6, and Siuslaw got by La Pine 28-26. Coquille will now face Kennedy for the 2A crown, while Siuslaw plays South Umpqua for the 3A championship. Both of those games will also be played at Cottage Grove Saturday.
