Defending state champion Cottage Grove moved into the No. 1 slot after downing Cascade 23-19 at home. Marist Catholic, in the same league as CG & MHS, is ranked No. 3 after beating visiting Sweet Home 23-19.. Marshfield’s opponent Friday night, Gladstone (1-0) is ranked No. 6 after beating Banks at home 35-28. North Bend entered the 5A polls at No. 9; after beating the Pirates on the road. Churchill, in the same division as the Bulldogs, is ranked No. 1. Thurston, also in the same league, is ranked No. 8.
