Marshfield’s boys won the 8-team Marist Invite Saturday, Eugene. The Pirates tallied 122.5 points. Siuslaw was second with 113, then Cottage Grove 102, Churchill 101, North Bend 88, La Pine 56.5, Junction City 47 & host Marist Catholic 33. Marist won the girls’ portion with 132 points, followed by Churchill with 110, Marshfield third with 100, then Junction City 71, Cottage Grove & La Pine each with 52, North Bend 50 and Siuslaw 43. Individually for the boys, Marshfield sophomore Jonathon Parks won the Long Jump (20-3) & the Pole Vault (14-0). The Pirates actually took four of the top five places in the Pole Vault with junior Trent Summers second (13-6), North Bend senior Brody Justice third (13-6), and then Marshfield sophomore Danner Wilson and junior Jack Waddington both tying for fourth (12-6). Waddington was also second in the High Jump (5-8). Pirate senior Matthew Allen placed second in the Discus (129-3). The team of Aaron Hutchins, Elijah Fox, Cael Church & Joshua Harvey won the 4X400 Relay (3:35.62). North Bend (Jason Padgett, Trenton Parrott, John Efraimson & Nathaniel Folsom) was second (3:40.58). The Bulldogs won the 4X100 Relay (Drew Phillips, John Efraimson, Jason Padgett & Brody Justice) 44.92, with the Pirates (Aaron Hutchins, Trent Summers, Cael Church, & Jonathon Parks) second 44.97. Marshfield senior Ismael Rodriguez took second in the 800 (2:04.31). Bulldog senior Efraimson won both the 200 (23.11) & 400 (51.82). North Bend sophomore Jason Padgett also won the 100 (11.69). Marshfield went 5-6-7 in the short sprint with Hutchins (12.09), Church (12.16) & Fox (12.23). On the girl’s side, Marshfield senior Bailey Wallack took both the 200 (28.01) & 400 (1:03.29). She was also fourth in the 100 (13.83). Pirate sophomore Daphne Scriven won both the Shot Put (31-11.5) & Discus (102-2), while MHS junior Tori Cox was second in the Shot Put (31-9) & third in the Discus (95-3). Marshfield freshman Keira Crawford was second in the High Jump (4-8), while classmate Alie Clark took both the Long Jump (15-5.5) & the Triple Jump (29-11.25). North Bend senior Lupita Trujillo was second in the TJ (29-3). Marshfield is scheduled to next compete at a Sky-Em League meet at Siuslaw Tuesday, April 5, 4 p.m. The Pirates will host the 114th Annual Coos County Meet on Friday, April 8. North Bend is scheduled to host Willamette Wednesday, April 6, 3:45 p.m., and also participate in the County Meet Friday at MHS.

Marshfield’s baseball team fell 8-2 to visiting Brookings-Harbor (5-2) Friday in Coos Bay. The Pirates (3-3) are scheduled to host South Umpqua (8-1) on Thursday, April 7, 5 p.m.

NBHS sb
North Bend’s softball team dropped a pair of 5A Midwestern League games at Ashland (3-1, 6-3) Saturday. The Grizzlies won 13-2 & 19-9. The Bulldogs (0-4, 1-7) are scheduled to play at Springfield (0-2, 0-5) Tuesday, 5 p.m.

North Bend’s baseball team lost two 5A Midwestern League games at Ashland (4-0, 7-1) Saturday, 10-0, 12-2. The Bulldogs (0-4, 5-4) are scheduled to play at Springfield (1-1, 3-5) Tuesday, 5 p.m.
