Coquille Twilight Meet
Siuslaw’s boys and Coquille’s girls won the annual Coquille Twilight Meet Friday at Coquille High School. The Vikings (204.83 pts) were led by junior Wesley Nicholls who won both the 200 (23.48) & 400 (52.45). He also ran legs on the Viks winning 4x100R (45.02) & 4x400R (3:35.42), and sophomore Will Johnson who won the Pole Vault (11-6), Long Jump (20-1.5) & Triple Jump (42-8, best in 3A). He also ran a leg on the winning short relay team. The Red Devils (208 pts) relied on the Millet sisters who combined to win four events. Sophomore Ada took the 800 (2:27.8), 300H (49.61, 3rd best 3A), and ran a leg on the winning 4x100R team (53.10). The senior Callie won the Discus (112-9, 2nd best 3A), Pole Vault (10-1) & placed second in the Long Jump (15-2) to teammate Melanie Lambson (17-0). Lambson also won the 100 (13.48), and was part of the winning short relay team. Myrtle Pt. (87) was second in the boys’ race, followed by Brookings Harbor (60.5), Gold Beach fifth (54.33), Pacific seventh (45.5), Coquille eighth (33), & Powers 11th (5). Siuslaw was second in the girls’ race (106), Myrtle Point third (79.5), Brookings-Harbor fourth (59.5), Pacific sixth (30), Gold Beach ninth (17) & Powers tenth (16). Individually for the boys: Senior Mason Detzler, Myrtle Pt. won both the Shot Put (58-11.5, 1A best) & the Discus (157-2, 1A best) for the Bobcats. For the girls, Siuslaw sophomore Danin Lacouture threw a 3A best to win the Shot Put (35-5), while her sister was second with the fifth best 3A mark (34-0). Gold Beach senior Korben Storns threw a 2A best 131-8 placing second in the Discus.

Jim Robinson Twilight Meet, Roseburg
South Coast sprinters put on a show at the Jim Robinson Roseburg Timber Country Coca-Cola, Champion Car Wash Twilight Invitational Track Meet at Roseburg High School Saturday. Twenty-one teams took part in the annual event with Grants Pass sweeping both the boys (116 pts) & girls (118 pts) team titles. Marshfield was second (73) in the boys, while North Bend tied Henley for fifth (50). Bandon (72) was third in the girls’ race, North Bend fourth (48.5), and Marshfield tied for 12th (17) with North Valley. Individually in the boy’s – Marshfield junior Bodey Lutes had a big day winning the 200 (22.21), the 400 (47.83, best in the State) and running legs on both winning relay teams, 4x100R (43.67, 3rd best 4A) & 4x400R (3:24.83, 4A best). North Bend senior Jason Padgett won the 100 (11.11, 2nd best 4A) and was second in the 200 (22.44. 2nd best 4A). He also ran legs on the Bulldogs’ second place 4x100R (44.33) and sixth place 4x400R (3:39.30). Marshfield also swept the two top spots in the Pole Vault with seniors John Parks and Danner Wilson each clearing 14-6 (4A bests). The story on the girl’s side was Bandon super sophomore Marley Petrey. She was second in the 100 (13.10), won the 200 (26.77, 2A best), and won the Long Jump (16-10, best in 2A). The Tigers also got a win out of sophomore Caitlyn Michalek in the Javelin (124-0). Quite a battle in the girl’s discus. Marshfield senior Daphne Scriven was second (121-4, 2nd best 4A) to Lebanon’s Taryn Cornell (124-9, 2nd best 5A). Marshfield hosts a JV Sky-Em meet on Tuesday with North Bend participating.

Saturday, April 13: 3A – Umpqua Valley Christian won at Coquille, 10-5. Brookings-Harbor JV beat visiting Gold Beach, 16-1. 2A/1A – Bandon/Pacific beat visiting Waldport, 7-6.
