Marshfield opened the 2021 prep cross-country season at the Ash Ck. Festival at Monmouth Saturday. Junior Alexander Garcia-Silver placed 10th in the varsity 5K race (15:36.30). Senior Caleb Lakeman, Tualatin, won in 14:58.50. Senior Jacob Calvert was 114th (18:13.90), freshman Elijah Cellura 144th (19:00.50), sophomore Corbin Reeves 150th (19:10.00), junior Jack Waddington 201st (20:26.00), junior Markus Kliewer 236th (22:39.40), and sophomore Gavin Stovall 241st (22:54.00). Marshfield was 17th overall as a team out of the 32 teams competing. Jesuit (Portland) took first place with 40-points. Senior Bailey Wallack led the Pirate girls by finishing 82nd (22:00.90), junior Sara Weatherly 182nd (26:53.60), junior Elizabeth Delgado 183rd (27:13.00). Summit (Bend) won the team race with 43-points. Marshfield is scheduled to run at the Northwest Classic at Lane CC (Eugene), Saturday, Sept. 18.
