A couple of small earthquakes shook the fault lines that run parallel with the Oregon Coast to end the month of August. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.9-magnitude quake was recorded August 30 in the same area as the 6.3-magnitude that hit earlier in the week on the outer fault line. It was located west of Bandon. Another 2.5-magnitude quake struck the southern junction in Northern California, August 31, west of Petrolia, CA near Cape Mendocino. A 3.1-magnitude quake was also recorded on the outer fault line early Sunday morning, Sept. 1, west to northwest of Bandon.
