Three adults and one seven year old boy were rescued from the cold rushing waters of the Rogue River near Agness Tuesday night, May 12, after their boat became stuck on rocks above Foster Bar. A fourth person, identified as 32-year old Justin Aires, of Newport, reportedly swam to shore to seek help. The Curry Co. Sheriff’s Office launched a marine boat about 8:22 p.m. It was able to get close enough to use a long line to secure the stuck vessel. Rescue swimmers were able to safely retrieve the boy back to the marine boat. However, it became stuck as well and a third vessel was summoned to the scene. Deputy Walter Scherbarth and SAR members were able to get the marine boat unstuck and the remaining two people off the stranded vessel and back to the Foster Bar Campground.
