News release City of Coos Bay. The City of Coos Bay authorized Benny Hempstead Excavating, Inc. to perform a sanitary sewer line replacement project on South 10th Street between Anderson Avenue and Elrod Avenue. The crew will commence with construction beginning Monday, July 18th. The project duration is approximately ten weeks. For safety reasons, the southbound lane on South 10th Street between Anderson Avenue and Elrod Avenue will be closed throughout the duration of work. Southbound traffic will be detoured around the project site; however, access to Blossom Gulch Elementary School will remain open, and the contractor will work with local residents for access to driveways. Drivers should anticipate traffic delays. The construction crew will take all precautions and necessary actions to minimize the disturbance to surrounding residents and vehicles. Parking along South 10th Street will be restricted during the hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to please exercise caution within the construction zone and detour area.
