CCSO release – To the Citizens of Coos County: Citizens in the County have recently received a request for donation from an organization out of Florida. The Letter is addressed as from “Oregon Law Enforcement Fund Drive for Law Enforcement Officers Relief Fund”. The letter contains a check for $2.50 addressed to a local Coos County resident or bearer. The request is for the return of the check and additional funds. The Sheriff’s Office is not aware of any association with law enforcement in Oregon and a simple Internet check shows a two star rating for this organization. There is also listing as to the rating performance of this organization. Citizen should be extra cautious during these current times regarding which organizations they wish to donate to or assist. Recently there have been several scams that have presented themselves throughout Oregon in attempt to solicit funds. If you or someone you know is concerned please contact your local police agency.
