News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. Narrative: On 04-10-16, at about 1620 hours Coos County Deputies responded to the site of the boat accident that had occurred on Coos Bay on 03-23-16. At about 1620 hours, a body was recovered from the Fishing Vessel Patty AJ, which is presumptive identified as the missing boat Captain, Jerry L. Barkley. The body was recovered by Michael Smith a friend of the Captain and his family and a certified diver. The Patty AJ overturned near buoy 5, close to the North Jetty in Charleston on 03-23-2016 with 3 crew member. Recovery options of the vessel are ongoing, as is the investigation into the reason the boat capsized.
