On September 26, 2015 at about 330PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 99 near Fr uitdale Drive in Grants Pass. According to Sergeant Jeff Allison, a 1988 Chevrolet S-10 pickup was traveling southbound on Highway 99 when it attempted to make a U-turn. As the vehicle made the turn, another southbound vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, collided with it. The impact caused both vehicles to slide across the road and into the driveway of a private residence where it struck two parked vehicles and a boat. The driver of the S-10, Robert W SMITH, age 67, of Rogue River was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Silverado, Michael E CLARK, age 62, of Rogue River, was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center for serious injuries. Highway 99 was closed for over four hours to allow the investigation and removal of vehicles.
