Southwestern Oregon’s men opened the Dale Bates basketball tournament in Eugene Friday night with a 102-88 win over New Hope. The Lakers lost to Tacoma on Saturday, 88-79. On Sunday, SWOCC beat Grays Harbor 112-74. On Thursday, Southwestern (8-2) hosts a Crossover Tournament and will open at 2 p.m. against Whatcom. The Laker women opened the Everett Tournament on Friday and downed Skagit Valley 71-65. On Saturday, SWOCC fell 81-72 to Lower Columbia. On Sunday, Southwestern beat Big Bend in overtime 74-71. SWOCC (6-3) plays in the Skagit Crossover Tournament Thursday, 7 p.m., against Centralia, and Friday, 6 p.m., against Skagit Valley.
