Southwestern Oregon’s opened the 2016-17 men’s collegiate basketball season with two road victories. The Lakers beat Pacific JV in Forest Grove Sunday 91-68, and the night before won 92-62 over the Willamette JV team in Salem. SWOCC (2-0) will next play Friday and Saturday in the Red Devil Classic at Longview, WA against Spokane, 6 p.m. The women’s basketball team split their two opening games over the weekend. Southwestern lost Friday, 79-60 at Lower Columbia in Longview, WA. On Saturday, the Lakers won at the Multnomath University JV in Portland 69-24. SWOCC (1-1) next plays in the Clackamas Thanksgiving Invitational at Oregon City Friday, against Green River, 3 p.m. The tourney continues on Saturday.
