A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 17-year-old male from a commercial fishing vessel near Cape Blanco State Park, near Port Orford, Monday evening, Dec. 16. He was reportedly suffering from chest pains and loss of vision; his current condition is unknown. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Bend received a request from crewmembers aboard the fishing vessel Bess Chett to medevac the 17-year-old crewmember at approximately 7 p.m. The Coast Guard watchstanders contacted the flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac based on the man’s reported symptoms. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Sector/Air Station North Bend was diverted to the scene and hoisted the male aboard the helicopter. He was transferred to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, Ore. for evaluation.
