Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Community Education Department is happy to be offering in spring term THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR (HST*0211*65). Topics considered during the term will include interesting personalities and incidents in the war (Jeb Stuart, Nathan Bedford Forrest, The Jackass Raid, The Great Locomotive Chase), Civil War music, and the daily life of the common soldier. Regular weekly features will include the roles of women in the war, and an expedition to find the wreckage of a former Confederate blockade runner in Coos Bay.
