Applied Nutrition is the comprehensive 2-day workshop presented by OSU Extension Family & Community Health. This workshop covers basic nutrition and meal planning with applications to disease prevention and weight management. The course is a must-have for anyone who plans meals for others and useful for teachers, nurses and physicians who work with patients battling chronic disease. The course is taught by a Registered Dietitian with 25 years of experience. The course design is hybrid, combining home study with in-person sessions. Students receive course materials in a 2-hour orientation (Sat, Oct 15, 10 am-12 pm) and complete reading assignments before meeting for the 2 full-day sessions (Sat. Oct 22 & 29, 10 am -4 pm). Classes will be held at the Community Health Education Center, 3950 Sherman Ave in Coos Bay. Tuition is $79 and includes 10 continuing education units for those requiring professional development. Deadline for registration is Sep 30. For those unable to attend Sat classes, Applied Nutrition will also be offered in Brookings on Wed, Oct 12, 19 and 26.
