Death Investigation in Southern Oregon
Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division, with the assistance of the Josephine County Major Crime Team, is investigating the suspicious death of an adult male found Friday afternoon near a creek on rural property southwest of Grants Pass. The cause and manner of death is withheld pending confirmation through an autopsy to be completed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office. On May 16, 2104 at approximately 3:46 p.m., OSP and Josephine County Sheriff’s Office were notified that the body of a deceased male was found near a creek on property in the 4800 block of Demaray Drive. OSP detectives and the Josephine County Major Crime Team responded to investigate. The deceased male is identified as JOHNNY NEILE HAMLIN, age 43. HAMLIN is reportedly a caretaker at the property where he lives in a recreational trailer.

Another Death in Southern Oregon
Oregon State Police (OSP) Criminal Investigations Division, with the assistance of the OSP Forensic Services Division and State Medical Examiner’s Office, are continuing the investigation to determine the positive identification and cause of death for an unidentified body found Saturday afternoon in the Wolf Creek area of Josephine County. On May 17, 2014 at approximately 1:45 p.m., OSP Southern Command Center dispatch was notified that couple was walking along Lower Grave Creek in the 8100 block of Lower Grave Creek Road and found what appeared to be a body. An OSP trooper initially responded and confirmed the report. OSP detectives and forensic personnel responded to gather evidence and recover the remains for positive identification by the State Medical Examiner’s Office. At this time it is not confirmed if the remains are of a male or female. No other information to be released until the State Medical Examiner’s Office has completed a pending examination of the remains.
